I've had some cherry shrimp in the tank with my yoyo loaches for a few weeks now, the loaches seem to leave the shrimp alone. Obviously the loaches will eat the cherry shrimp's eggs if they can find them. My question is, do you think they'll find enough of them to prevent the cherry shrimp from breeding?

Where do the shrimp tend to lay their eggs? It's a pretty heavily planted tank with driftwood.

Thanks!

Shrimp carry their eggs until they hatch. Look up berried shrimp. It is likely that the yoyo's will pick off some of the baby shrimp though. Depending on how many shrimp you start with and how heavily planted the tank is there could be survivors that make it to adult size.

Are your Yoyo's full grown? I would think adult size yoyo's are capable of taking an adult shrimp.

If your planted heavily enough some will probably make it though. I have cherries in with rams and an angel yet they seem to carry on.

For awhile I had a large group of yoyos, and liked to watch them go after snails. While one fish couldn;t get to the snail, they ganged up on it and within seconds had the snail shell broken. I can't imagine them not doing the same thing to a shrimp.

Nah, the yo-yo's send the shrimp out to get the snacks. Popcorn and crackers. Maybe some cheese.

The yoyos are small, 2 inches. Good points though, guess I didn't really think this one through, lol. The yoyos will get a whole lot bigger.
