Ok so my lfs got a bunch of 1 inch long YoYo Loaches in the other day and he told me that I could get as many as I want for 50¢ each.

Since I have an extra 45 gallon how many could I realistically fit in for when they become full grown (I know they take there sweet time growing so I understand it will not be anywhere near what I think).

I agree with H3D. You're right about slow growing. They are also long-lived. I have two that I got in 1989 that are still goin' strong.

I would go with 5 too. They are one of my favorite loaches. Here is one of mine...I love this guy/gal.

Um sooo jealous. 50 CENTS...that is awesome. I purchased mine for 8.00 a piece. I do have to say that they seem to grow more quickly than clown loaches . Both of my little yo-yos have added an inch in just the past 6 months. My favorite part is that when they sense food they turn a pinkish blue color. You can visibly see them getting happy.

I have three in a 75 gallon. With a 45 I wouldn't add more than 4.

Yeah, he didnt order them and wasnt charged for them. He said it would be almost a waste of money to send them back and he didnt really have an extra tank to display them in so he is trying to get rid of them in a hurry.

But anywho, I bought 8 of them 4 or 5 for the one tank and 3 or 4 for a 90 gallon. They will all stay in the one till they get large enough to move over to the larger tank. Thanks for all the input on the number. They look so darn cute when they are that tiny.

EDIT: yeah so ummm, why did my post get broken up into 2 posts? :pc:
