zebra pleco diet advice wanted

hi, all! :hi: i'm going to get a zebra pleco soon, and I know I need to feed plecos more than just algae, and I heard that zebra plecos need live food in their diet. aren't plecos totally herbivorous? can I feed her bloodworms?

Not all plecos are herbivores; some are carnivores, many are omnivores.

A quick search on google turned up a pretty good consensus on these:
Not really an algae eater, prefers meaty foods (brine shrimp, insect larvae etc), will take and should get all the usual veggies, will also accept the usual flakes and such as part of their diet. Doesn't require wood. Does prefer richly oxygentated water. And all but one of the sites said okay in a 10gal, which I'm still kinda surprised by. :)

Beautiful fish. I considered one for awhile, but finally decided they're a little too flashy for the look of my planned tank.

"tanks" a lot! ;)

i also have heard driftwood is a must with them

Treat it carefully....in a very short while, these fish will be extinct in the wild, and even replacing a zebra pleco now will run you $300+, and its only going up from there.

don't worry, I got mine for $50 from a guy who breeds them down in florida. I never, ever, buy wild caught fish!

$50 for one is beyond a steal...even CB babies are typically going for $150+...and although most mature specimens out there were orginally WC, no WC zebras have been exported from Brazil in years.
