zebra plec

Shekoi

Trying to start up again
hello all.

i'm getting a pair of zebra plecs in a few weeks, they will be housed in my 40G tall tank with large tetratec 1200 exturnal filter.

few questions

best aquascape?
feeding suggestions?
other stock?

at the moment the tank is home to
1 L001
1 Bristlenose male
1 clown plec
20 neon tetras
2 swordtails
5 silver hatchets
5 corys

the bristlenose could be rehoused in my 70G,
L 001 into my 20G?
and apart from the clown, cories and hatchets i could return the other fish.

so what do you suggest as an ideal stock for the tank?

see links below for my other tanks.

thanks Karl.

best aquascape= rocks and bogwood.

feeding= mostly meaty foods- blood worms etc.

other stock= fish that like it warm as zebras should be kept at discus temps- so discus, sterbai cory, bn plecos, many tetras. Avoid too many other plecos since plecos tend to be territorial and zebras stay smaller than most plecos.

I have heard that tall tanks aren't prefered for the zebra pleco's, they like shallow tanks, is that correct? Maybe someone knows for sure.

They're found in very deep rivers. So, it only follows that they'd prefer tall tanks.

You're probably taking something out of context. A group will prefer, say, a 20 gallon long over a 20 gallon tall because of the larger footprint. Being a bottom dweller - it makes for more territory.

But they'll prefer a taller tank given the same footprint - given equal water conditions (particularly oxygen content).
