Hey guys,

Anyone out there breed zebra plecos? I am looking for a new breeding project and beautiful asset to my 45 gallon tank.. Now I know how much they go for, but Im not willing to pay $800 bucks for a group.. But if anyone out there is breeding them and is generous to start me off with maybe a trio or up to 5 for a lower price let me know! Thank you! The hunt begins! :goldfish:

Don't know if this helps, but there is a seller o n aquabid user name - glockfu. The auction is for a zebra pleco l-064. Its at $115 with no bids and an option to buy more at winning bid. It ends in 2 days. It might be worth it to keep an eye on it.

Hate to be the bearer of bad, re: true, news, but that is the going price for zebras. There is a seller on plecoworld.org (Saul, user name unungy), that sells wc zebras for a decent price. His minimum number of fish to buy is 5, but I would contact him, maybe he will cut you a deal. You might want to hurry a bit in your search. When they start the Bello Monte dam project in Brazil, the zebras natural habitat will be wiped out. Then the prices will probably skyrocket. Good luck. We need all the people we can find to breed these fish, because once the dam starts, they may be gone forever in the wild.

I love the zebra's also but have not been able to afford a group. I have some other that I adore but zebra's would be one of the prettiest ones I have seen and I would love to have them.

I have not heard of this dam project but I hate to think of this beautiful pleco and who knows how many other species that may not be able to survive there anymore. We def. need more breeders in the hobby!! I volunteer!!

Yeah...I hate that dam project. I would absolutely love to have a small group of them, but at those prices, just won't happen.
