Saw this in a LFS in Raleigh NC, I thought it was neat and decided to share :)
I'm not sure on the name, I think it's zero edge, the water was continually flowing over the top of the tank.

Kids can get wet fingers too ;)

Does this serve a purpose other than to potentially increase evaporation rates?

Well, you would get a spectacularly complete turnover of water volume from the whole tank...guessing from the looks that the water is pumped back in at the bottom of the tank, so it rises, taking all detritus and gunk with it, to sweep out the top and back through the massive amount of mechanical pumping and filtration stuff underneath the stand. Problem of course being that it would also take most sorts of fish along with, meaning it would only be usable on a reef-only tank.

definitely cool to look upon though. Would be even more so if they would put walls or skirting on the bottom to hide the aforementioned mechanical stuff underneath. Increase the mysteriousness factor and all that. :)

Lol. Albeit is one word on this side of the pond.

One of the local LFS here uses one of those for holding coral frags. They are pretty nice. Just watch what you are leaning against when looking around. Left a few times trying to figure out how part of my shirt got wet.

Sure is pretty

Very nice!

Our Classic Series is the Original ZeroEdge Overflowing Aquarium Design. These aquariums were originally designed as the Ultimate Clam Tank with its Oxygen Rich Water and Crystal Clear Viewing Experience.

Wonder how many clams were able to make an escape???
