Zoa eating spider?

I suppose that could be a common mistake. I am just so used to seeing Pycnogonids and the nudibranchs on other things that I can readily tell the difference. The pycnogonids are easily taken care of, however, the nudibranchs are more difficult to get rid of.

Oh I know the difference. A new colony I have been QTing just got a dip and had over 20 nudis on it and at least 15 egg spirals. Grrrr.

it looked pretty much like this (from what i remember, just saw it a second)...

now i'm worried! i think it fell off the frag as i put it in the tank. i left the frags on the sand so they'd open and i could see what was what. the next day i epoxied them onto the rocks. SO, i have no idea where it might be in the tank. i did e-mail the seller and asked him about it and he had no idea what i was talking about :| they are all glued on now i'm not really wanting to dip them but if i have to i have to. :( i didn't even know about this risk (bad hitch hiker), didn't even know i should dip them... man i mad now.

Personally I'd unattach them and dip the suckers. Chances are the pest is fairly close to it or on it.

well i picked up some more zoas at a new basement op i found and so i dipped everything. i MAY have seen the spider, i got something out of the older zoas so im hoping thats what it was. did get about 5 sundial snails (i think) off the new ones too!

Isn't it amazing how good those things can hide for being so vividly marked?

Do you see any more of them on your frags? If it's just one ....... well I can't remember if they are asexual or not so keep your eyes open. If you do start seeing signs of damage I'd dip my corals/zoo's that are affected if not don't worry about it. There wouldn't be a lot you could do with out taking your tank apart anyway . Just for future reference a q.t. tank is one of the best buys you will every make mate! I hope this helps and keep us posted we will give you more aggresive advice if you need it.
cheers
Max

I did not know Nudi's would eat Zoa's either, until I went to ZoaID a while back.I always thought they were herbivores.
