I'm only slowly getting into lowlight corals. I recently bought some nice looking zooanthids. The zoos are completely covering this long piece (maybe five inches long) of coral skeleton. I mean completely covering on all sides. If I lay them down on a rock I am assuming the ones on the bottom will die? Or will they move to the top where they can access light? Currently I have the piece sticking into a rock vertically but the ones at the lower end still don't get much light. What should I do?

They were laying in a tank at the LFS and seemingly doing fine. Will there be no problem?

Thanks

I just recently bought a similar sounding zoo frag. I usually try to stand them up, but if I can't, lay it down with the least amount covered side down. If it's 100% covered, close your eyes and put it in, because it won't matter. I've seen some of mine migrate to sunnier spots too, but not always.

I'm pretty sure they will move, or at least s-t-r-e-t-c-h and point their disc upwards.
