Just curious and looking to pick up any tips you all have.
I have mostly softies (Palys, Zoas, Shrooms), one candy cane, and one encrusting monti. They're in a 20G under 130W of PC. Eveything seems to be doing fine, but I'd like to do anything I can to help them thrive. I've been adding Marine Snow by two fishes 2x per week and just recently started adding mysis "juice" (mushed mysis in RO). I'm planning to start target feeding a few of them. My only question is with what. Any suggestions? What works for you?
TIA

Phyto feast has been popular with the inhabitants in my tank

I thought Rod's Food was the best? I guess not.

We use Coral Frenzy, and Black Powder. There are a lot of good ones out there...it may just be a case of trying a few and seeing what your corals respond the best to.

Rod's food is the best for FISH.. it is ok for corals as well, there is small enough food for most corals in Rod's, but some corals need that little extra boost of food now and then and Roti or Oysterfeast are great for that. If I was running a frag tank I would only use Roti or Oyster. Phyto isn't that good for most corals.. some filter feeders like featherdusters may take it, and clams love it, but for the most part Phyto is just too small for most SPS/LPS corals.

I was just wondering since Rod's has come out with a coral blend now. I was wondering if any one has used it.

For target feeding some of the LPS, I've used small chunks of fish, or mysis and brine shrimp with a large syringe or turkey baster. I've also just started using cyclopeeze in the main tank 1-2x per week and 4-5x per week in the frag tank, and it seems to be working pretty well.

I've been using Rod's Coral Blend for awhile now. Also Coral Frenzy and Cyclop-eeze (with selcon).

Back when I had an assortment of corals, I didn't feed the smaller polyped species anything. I did, however, feed the larger ones small pieces of fish and/or shrimp.

Cyclopeeze, mysis shrimp, spirulina brine shrimp, garlic sinking pellets and DT's phyto :D
oh and my anemones get a cube of Prime Reef or mysis shrimp...sometimes a piece of silver side

a lot of good suggestions here. I personally use marine snow, cyclopseeze for my LPS. I use frozen silver sides for my anemone.

Mysis shrimp is the staple for my LPS corals (polyps target fed with tweezers).
My soft corals typically aren't specifically fed.
On rare occasions cyclopeeze is provided (for my stylophora and smaller-polyped LPS such as leptastrea), applied with an 'eye dropper'.

When receiving coral via UPS or FedEx, how soon after should you try to feed?

I believe the main cocern is just getting them into the tank and placing them on the bottom first..work your way up durring the week as they acclimate to the lighting.
As for feeding .. I would say hittem with a little target feeding ..
I use Reef Nutrition Rotifers to feed my tank... Since my corals are Carnivorous.

Well, I think I'm ready to add water to the FRAG TANK (http://norcaboa.com/reef/ft.html) I've got to go get a power head or 2, any suggestions? 2' x 2' x 1'

Well a store I visit that has a huge frag tank..that I drool over...i dunno if its the luminarcs or the coral but i just love it... =)
They have many power heads in there. Being bare bottom though you can aim those guys where you want and not worry about sand stirring up badly.
I don't know honestly how many to put in that. I would assume put 4 of them in there and direct the flow to the center to cause a disturbance in the flow to prevent swirling...otherwise. Ill let someone with frag tank experience to reply.
Ill ask at the store this weekend what they suggest ...just because now I want to know myself what is best for a frag tank like yours. I would imagine (im a korilia fan) I would get some #4's or even #5's in there.

I've got 4 new 4's for he display tank, and since it's not up and running yet I could try them in this. Maybe 1 to start with.

I went and bought some new sps and checked out there frag tank... it has 5 400w luminarcs by the way lol....talk about lighting on a major scale... =) .. and two Korilia #5's....also flow from some wave making unit ...i didn't ask just observed ...no detritus on the bare bottom ...lots and lots of flow in there...

I was somewhat surprised at the flow of the 4's I have. I put 2 of them in this small frag tank, and it doesn't really seem to be all that much. I have a Marineland Emperor 240 that puts out just about as much water flow. I guess for the 90 DT I'll get something bigger.
