Well someone who is into it and actually knows what they are doing. My wife had a friend over and her husband has two tanks himself. So we sat here and talked about that most of the night. We embraced our fish dorkness. lol

It's just nice to talk to someone in real life that enjoys it as much as I do.

It's few and far between. Enjoy the most out of it. A lot of times you meet new people and you struggle with small talk not knowing that they're enthusiastic fellow aquarists. Darn, could have used that time much better. I embrace all my dorkness. I love scrabble too.. Now, how dorky is that ?

Hey, Scrabble isn't dorky and neither is fishkeeping (bursts into laughter!!!) Sorry, I do think they are less dorky than playing video games, since one is interacting much more with others, be they fishies or fellow wordmeisters!!! Of course, I never did get hooked into video games so I'll just shut up right now!!! BTW, congrats on finding a fellow fish geek. I'm still searching. . . .

I recently found out my brother owns a 55 gallon tank. I think I bore him with fish talk...

He's in Australia and I'm in the US if you're wondering why I wouldn't know such a thing.

My roommate never had fish, but when I moved in and brought 180 gallons of fun, plus 3 more tanks in my room, they were fascinated (thankfully not weirded out).

They made names like "Fat Tony and his Cronies" for my 3 oscars, "The Snake" for my ropefish, the others are more explicit lol

Sometimes we talk for hours about the tank because they are genuinely interested when they see me testing water, feeding them (live food day is popular, because I dump in a bag of gold fish and a bag of ghost shrimp).

I met a guy at work who is into saltwater tanks and we get a lot of looks and confused stares when we get into deep conversation about dwarf lionfish and different LFS and good TFS's.

Nope, the fact that you said uberdork is what makes you a dork. :)
