SW Noob needing help!

What supplies do I need to cycle the tank? If he gives me sand but no water what should I do?

Unless you go and buy salt before you get the tank, you might as well leave the sand with him. You'll need to make the water, fill it up, then add the sand. If you're going to do that tonight, then get the sand, otherwise there isn't any point.

+1 to just leaving the sand with him unless you will be filling the tank soo. Add another bag (or better yet, buy a box/bucket) of salt to your list. Don't skimp on your equipment. better to take your time and buy quality equipment that will last and you and your livestock will be happy with then to have to turn around and buy it again. Ask the seller how old the bulbs are in the fixture. Congrats on the setup! 75's are a good size.

I can't leave sand with him, he lives 1 hour and a half away! (he lives across Austin and I live outside city limits in georgetown Texas ) Should I get the sand in a bag and then get salt and put it in a bucket?

Just got tank! It's actually glass, it's about a quarter of an inch thick. The filter is massive. The lights are 4 long flouresant bulbs. The stand works but my dad doesnt like color!!!! The stand has 2 doors and there are 4 incandessent bulbs in there. The man who sold it too me had a really big tank, at least 150 gallons. His tank had a yellow tang, pajama cardinal, a pair of clownfish, a porcupine puffer, blue tang, long nose wrase (fish with orange and white stripes) and he had some domino damselfish. (he didn't tell me names but I recognized fish)
