Patience is the best policy. You want to set up a tank that you'll be happy with for years to come. If you decide on a species don't settle. Wait until you can acquire that fish and go from there. Your LFS should be able and willing to find the species you're looking for.

They are getting in all of the species previously mentioned on the first page by you. All I have to do is go there, look at fish, look at prices, see what they'll do for me with the FM's and severum, and compare the three.

I bought the tank used with the full hood and light (separate), filter, heater, air pump, air stone, stand (I replaced this), and gravel (I replaced this) for $20. The light is one of those black plastic strip lights that cost 5x what it should. It fits it perfectly. I wish I knew where it came from so I could tell you.

...PS. I have a ten gallon that I plan to have set up, and I wouldn't have a problem with putting the barbs and loaches in there. But if I do that, I have nowhere to raise fry if they should occur.
10 gallon tanks are cheap and very easy to pick up at garage sales ;)

Never thought of that one. My window sill and desk could easily hold up to even 5 tens if needed. Thanks.
