if no eel(i reallllly want the eel!!!) then maybe an opaline gourami or maybe a kissing gourami. i think one would be able to hold its own against a cichlid.

Kissing Gourami's get way too big, and Opaline Gourami's will be killed. I'd say to go with just the pair, the plecs, and the eel.

so no salvini or firemouth?

ok so will a salvini, firemouth, or blood parrot work with
2-cutter cichlids
3-green bristlenoses
1-peacock eel?
i can take a bristlenose out if its too much bioload.

TBH I'm not entirely sure how much the eel will change things. I definitely would say firemouth over the other two, the bp and salvini are a lot more aggressive.
