Generally - Angels aren't really a problem for requiem sharks - such as the Blacktip Reefs - But Angels are a problem for small benthic species such as the Bamboo sharks.

Also while a 10,000 tank is nice - it's still ultimately not large enough for an adult Blacktip Reef to stay in for it's entire life. Adult Blacktip Reefs reach about 5.25-6' (approximately 1.6-1.8 meters) in length, and need a lagoon/pool/pond that is at least 16,000 gallons(36' long x 16' wide x 4' deep) to 21,000(39' long, x 18' wide x 4.5' deep).

Actually in captivity and with proper conditions these beautiful sharks reach a length of about 4 feet. (This is info from people who actually own them.)

Hate to disagree with you. But most private aquarists aren't able to keep a Blacktip reef for more than 6 years (about 4' long). Blacktip Reefs usually don't reach their full adult size for at least 10 years.

BTW - I've actually talked with some professional aquarists(who worked with Public Aquariums) on this. Keep in mind Blacktip Reefs are fairly common in large Public Aquariums. They all state that when kept in captivity - properly - Sharks often grow to near the species maximum(at least 80% or more). Which for Blacktip Reefs is at least 5 feet.

This is due to the very fact that in captivity, sharks are feed to eat more for often, have to use less energy looking for food, and are kept at fairly constant water temps & conditions. All of which allow that shark to reach it's maximum potential size.

better than the boring bedroom kind. . . . but imagine doing it in front of your very own shark tank.
Bahahaha.... almost sounds like the intro to a modern "Jaws" movie. Toss in some random explosions, a couple more hot bedroom scenes, and chuck norris, and you've got yourself a million-dollar movie. :p:

To be semi-serious for a second, a shark tank/lagoon would be awesome to have... but the economics of running one are mind boggling.... Do you realize what that will do to your electricity bill? You'll have to invest in building a mini thermonuclear plant in your backyard to fuel the pumps and heaters. :p: (totally joking about the power plant, but expect the utility bills to be through the roof with a project like that)

Yeah - having a good size shark lagoon - requires deep pockets.

I know of a guy that built (and currently has) a 35,000 gallon indoor shark lagoon. Basically an indoor in-ground swimming pool - converted to SW shark lagoon. But last I heard he had 12 sharks in the lagoon - including 2 Blacktip Reefs, as well as a couple of Smoothhounds & other small requiem sharks.

Still as for cost of electrical bill - there's a way to reduce the cost - by installing somekind of energy generator - such as solar panels.

True... I like the solar idea... but you'd need to live somewhere which is consistently sunny, and have a LOT of panels to make a real dent in that electric bill... probably on the order of 200+ sq feet of panels, and somewhere like so-cal.

35k gallon INDOOR? You know OF him, or you KNOW him? If you know him... PLEASE GET US SOME PICS?!?

Bahahaha.... yeah, that sure as heck would be an incredible selling point. Talk about adding $100k to the value of your house, if not more. :p:
