Has anyone trimmed a orandas cap?

Will all Orandas wen grow over their eyes? And how do you not spread infection in your tank after the fish went thru the procedure? Maybe a sick tank? Hmm.

infection has to be present before it can spread, and a well-cared for tank in addition to proper procedure will prevent that.

Hey Rod, I'm so sorry to hear about your bad experience. I agree with David, wen trimming is a very safe procedure. It makes me nervous that your vet did not charge for the procedure - that tells me that he has done very few, if any, wen trimmings before. Using the opportunity for training is fine, but to me, free surgery means that the vet doesn't want to stand by his work. An experienced vet might give you a big discount, but will still charge if only to cover the cost of the sedative and for his time.
