I would do another large water change. Ideally you will do water changes until the ammonia is as close to 0 as possible....and then tell your boyfriend he needs to buy you some nice jewelry because he is so lucky to have someone who cares as much as you do.

what physical size on them 1"...2" or smaller

what water conditioner do you use...

what is the ammonia reading on your tap water...

how long since your bf left and they have been on the auto feeder

The fish are about 2 inches from tail to nose. The conditioner is called Prime Seachem, and he left monday, and they've been on auto feed since then. Not sure of the ammonia in the tap water but I'll check.

Prime is great and can be overdosed up to five times to handle emergency ammonia and nitrite conditions.

At 2 ", I would not think 5x a day feedings are necessary. But if that is what he prefers, do your best.

If you have ammonia in your tap and are using Prime, it will still show on an API test kit, but it is bound in a non-toxic form.

ok. so i'm doing another water change now, I'll add the prime stuff again and I'm calling it a night :) And he does have the API stuff, so I should be good to go.
