Well i bought a strange looking fish outta impulse at my mom and pop lfs. so i trusted his advice. it was called a Hong Kong Loach.

its really neat, like the head and mouth of a pleco with a miny half end of a sting ray like. and only about 2 inches.

does anyone know anything about em or has anyone owned them?

any help would be great, thanks.

Give this link a read and start from there. They need plenty of oxygen and powerful flows in order to thrive.

As far as foods are concerned, they will eat anything once accustomed but abundant supply of algae is the most important part. Simply use a bucket of water and add some few smooth white rocks in it. Place the bucket under direct sunlight and add a pinch of fishfood. You should be able to get any algae in a few days. Place the algae-coated rocks in the tank. Be sure to use them alternately in order to have enough supply of algae.

Well for one thing folks might not realize what your talking about from the title... they go by many common names. Some people dont even know they are a loach, often sold as a pleco. There is the occasional person on here that has em in a regular community tank though, but if I am going to do it I am going to try to setup a specialized tank for them. Thats the next project after my 240g is complete. They arent very common in fish stores around here, think I have only seen em in one. But there is a local guy selling some that he breeds, if anyone is interested check out http://brianstropicals.com/ohio_tropical_fish.html he has Sewellia lineolata. If you want to talk to alot of folks that have em though, check out the forums at loaches.com, there are many that keep river tanks.

I have 3 in my one tank... they do well and are always out and about. I do however keep as much water movement as I can in the tank trying to find a happy medium between them and the other species
