how do i know if my snail is dead?

gahh! my snail hasnt moved in about 3 days. it just sits there. is it becuase theres not enough algea for it too eat or becuase its dead? hes been kinda lazy since i put him int he new tank 5 months ago. should i try giving him some algea pellots or something??

My snail eats lettuce, peas, fish flakes, fish poop.

Snails will eat some types of algae, though most need their diets supplemented with other foods to stay alive, unless there's a very heavy amount of the type of algae they like.

KATELYN - Take the snail out and see if he stays in his shell. If he falls out he's definately dead. If he smells really bad he's dead.
If he stays tightly sucked into his shell he could still be alive.

Check your water quality. I dont know what kind of snail you have, but applesnails are very sensitive to poor water quality. They have no tolerance for ammonia or nitrite. If the water is not where it should be, the snail will stay in his shell and eventually die.
