You go girl! I've had aquariums for about 45 years now and I've had just about everything at one time or another from Saltwater to Pond Koi. The Oscars were nice, but I like a nice looking tank and love my live plants, with the Oscars nothing ever stayed where it was put except the rocks. I liked the Angels until they started breeding like rats and then all my free time was spent growing out babies, feeding, cleaning, and pedaling them to LFS to sell, (couldn't just let them get eatten). For the past 1 1/2 years I've had Discus and they are my all time favorite, they captivate me for hours, I watch them instead of TV. Of course you know how it goes.... now I also have some Apisto's and Rams now and I've got them peppered throughout my tanks. Bottom line is go with what you like and gives you the most enjoyment, your taste will change with time and so will the contents of your tanks. It's a personal thing and no one can really tell you what you should stock, do what feels right for you. Good Luck with choosing your stocking and I hope everything works out well with your knee!

Here's my 2 cents for what to do with one of the big tanks. I have this fantasy cold water tank I want to set up but can't because my apartment in Honolulu has no heat or air--thus we all live at tropical temps, me and the fish.:)
I was reading once about dojo loaches and they sound like really cool fish with friendly personalities. They get to be about 10 inches long, and apparently they like to be "petted." So if I had a big tank (and a different climate) I'd put in, like, 7 or 8 dojos and a huge school of white cloud mountain minnows. And I'd keep low light plants like java fern and anubias.

Well, I have gotten the heaters, and several filters. Still need to get lighting. Its been a slow process. I am waiting to see if I am having a pretty invasive knee surgery before setting them up. My husband will already have to take care of my 12 smallish tanks that I have running if I get this operation, I didn't want to have 2 large tanks for him to deal with as well. I will find out this week if I am having surgery or not. If not, the tanks will get kicked into high gear. Although I said no inverts, I am considering using the 75g temporarily as a snail grow-out tank as the demand for my apple snails has gotten so large. Once the demand has been met and I am doing more "maintenance" breeding, they would be moved back to the 29g tanks that they are currently residing in. I have also snagged a couple pieces of big driftwood and have a whole 29g FILLED with plants for one of the big tanks...I am just biding my time! Thanks for the interest guys! I feel the tanks staring at me accusingly everytime I walk into my "fishroom".
RAchel, I hope all goes well with your knee, we are all here for you in wishing you the best. I hope it heals fast!! Good going on the tanks, goodness, I am so exicted for you!!

I was offered a pbass....just not sure if I would be able to upgrade to a 300g+ when needed, lol. We will see what happens this week, then I will get serious thinking about my stocking!
