Im still playing with the idea of just buying the ballasts bulbs and reflectors and then setting up my own.

Go to your local reef club and buy a used one...sincerely they are always listed on mine.

Some of the best balasts are IceCap.. If you can get a good deal on those I'd jump at any chance you can get on them..

My next bulbs will be 14K and I'll lower my fixtures a bit to accomodate not having the 10Ks so I still get good growth. On a price it really depends but to give you an example I spent $125-150 (I forget) on (2) 250watt and the 2 new bulbs. Basically he gave them to me for the price of the bulbs and threw the fixture in.

I love my 14k bulbs.. They add just enough blue to the spectrum to make things look cool, but are white enough so I can actually see in the tank..

im having trouble gettin rid of the lion which is the 1st step unfortunately... i posted on my local reef and on craigslist too... 60 bucks for a 6-7" lion? Whats wrong with that deal?!?!

That is a bit high for fish here in my club. The members tend to give really good deals. Have you asked to take him in trade instead of cash?
