Excel isnt as expensive as many make it out to be. bigalsonline.com sells the 4L bottle for $38. Unless you have some nano tank dont mess with the dinky 250ml bottles, thats why people think its so expensive. They buy the tiny bottle thats like 5X more expensive per volume, and it runs out in 1 or 2 months. I calculated out once my 45g that a 4L bottle should last like about 1.5-2yrs (I forget the exact number off hand). It would take many years for pressurized to pay for itself vs excel on a tank less than 75g. Money isnt the reason I gave up on excel, for one thing its not as effective as co2, in higher concentration it can kill various plants or fish, and unless you rig up some fancy auto doser its one more thing you have to manually do daily/every other day.

But Excel is NOT CO2. And even Seachem admits that if CO2 is a 10 that Excel is at most a 7.

I have never seen excess CO2 kill plants. And overdosing on Excel is also toxic to many fish and inverts.
