I don't rely on the temp setting on the heater.. i use those for reference then adjust as needed.
my issue with the heaters is..they don't turn off ..one in my marine tank actually shorted in the cord.
Deb i have a visi therm that the light is on but produces very little heat and it was new.
I am going to send them all back in one shot with a letter. that way it is one postage fee.
at the moment I have 4-5 heaters that failed all in the last year
