US percption of Scotland

was ganno go 2 the highland games2 this year...woulda worn the whole "suite" but my mom couldn't aford it
Dalmore whisky and black pudding...my favourite things of Scotland. Can't beat the rugid scenery of the Hebrides with the miltary playing games either, over a herd of deer.

dont worry about the food, we rave about the haggis, but the cities, like any other are multicultural, edinburgh is excellent for restaurants, my favourite tapas bar is there....
Scotland /Scottish brings up thoughts of:
green hills
kilts over fuzzy muscled legs (why is that appealing?)
haggis:crazy:
that wonderful accent
rugged self-sufficient people
bagpipes
mossy rocks
Loch Ness
and 2 questions: why is Scotland NOT it's own country, and what is a moor?
Sorry, I never hear anything about Scotland in the news, or in any documentary, or anything like that. I did see a Man vs. Wild episode recently where the guy was in the Highlands. I had no idea the weather there could be so cold!!
BTW, I have McLamb (from McClanahan or McLammie?) in my ancestry. Don't know if they are Irish or Scottish, but I welcome it whatever it is! All hail Scotland!

Well, you could start of a big debate there about us being our own country and 800 years of English occupation....but that would be political and we're not allowed that on the forum

I do believe I recently saw that Scotland was considering leaving the U.K. ? Im Scottish and English and I live in the U.S. so go figure. Oh and I would rather deal with the taste of haggis versus the smell of the peat fires in Ireland.
