The HOB filter is recomended for any tank, but I was specificly referring to your large one. Since all my tank have scaleless fish in them, I never use meds against ich. Even the most heavily infested fish have been cured this way. It is also a good idea to quarrantine before adding a new fish to your main tank, for this very reason.

I used to quarrantine- in a hospital tank.
But I took it down awhile ago when we moved and never put it back up or needed it until now.
I should of known.

I also used to have a HOB with the eheims for the double Bio-wheel action.
But nixed that too after moving.

Do they have a large enough HOB for 180?
With out using canisters too?

I called the LFS again about my dragon fish.

THey said the have their others just in a touch of salt. With no problems. But they also said they do well in Brack.

I have read threads that it IS NOTa good idea.
I am doubting my Fish store totally.

Keeping a fish in a holding tank with little or no salt is no indication of how well they will do for life.

The largest tank I have is a 125. I use 2 AQ 500s & an Eheim 2217.

i was just checking out your pictures.

Pretty cool.

How do you go about starting a brack tank?

And did you get a new dragon yet?
that one on your site looked awesome.

The wife of the owner- LFS
Says she has several BRACK fish in her FW with Mollies or something and like platies.
Still the more I read about goby fish-
they need brack salt? and not plain aqua salt?

You need marine salt & a hrdrometer to measure it. Here's a good start to BW: http://badmanstropicalfish.com/brackish/brackish.html

I did recently buy a new dragon. The old one lasted 8 years, but had pink tumors all over it's body (even inside it's mouth). Probably from a compromised immune system, by forcing it to live in FW it's whole life.

DId you buy him from a FW tank as I have?
And just kept it that way?
I can't find him in the aquarium.
He went into a decoration and poked his head out and now he's somewhere else.
He's probably freaked out.

WEll-
I have messed up big time.
I added some silver dollars to the 180 gallon-
With the Dragon-
I have 3 adult 5-7 inch severums that are around 5 years old,
the dollars have ick. I now set them up a hospital tank-
Which I should of used that first before putting them in the main tank.
Any ways--- I added some salt and raised the temp a bit.
From 76 to about 78- was going to go higher but Noticed my severum on the bottom not wanting to move with his fin all drawn in.
I think it may be the salt? To much? Because I use some salt always. But this time I used NON- iodized. After reading all the threads that it did not matter- Iodized or non-Iodized.
But added more because of the ick. I don't know how to treat for ick with the dragon in there?
Now I think he's dieing.
What Can I do?
I did a 25% h20. Now what?
