Fish that go with an Oscar?

thanks man. Great looking O. I'll look into it

I have a green terror and a pbass, a knife fish, channel cat, pictus and a farlowella catfish in a 75g tank.

Get fish with the oscar while he is small. Mine doesnt take too kindly to new tankmates... :(

I literally went thru 8 fish before I found a tank mate for him. My O is now 6" and his new tank mate is a 2" gt. What are the odds?! :nilly:

I hope you plan on upgrading to a 180 or more.

jaguar cichlids always to good with them, from my experiences. My opinion, is get it full(feed it) then put the new tankmate in while he is not hungry. Or make the tank mate 4" or more.

My oscars got along fine with one convict or one dempsey. Although it depends on the JD.

Convicts, Salvini, JD, Rainbow Cichlids, Firemouths have all worked for me with oscars but it just depends on the fishes temperment. Have plent of hiding spaces ready. Jaguars are not going to work in a 90 gallon with an oscar. You oscar will be killed by the jag someday.

The problem with dither fish is that yes, there's a good chance they will be killed by the oscar one day. Not necessarily eaten. I have silver dollars in with my oscar, he killed several of them. they were way too big for him to swallow, so he would just swim around with it in his mouth like a dog running with a frisbee. I finally got him to drop it and pulled it out, I was afraid if he actually did get his mouth around it he would choke.

I have pictus cats with my oscar, he largely ignores them. They are as big as he is, so I don't think its a real issue. I also had a friend who kept a pair of convicts with his oscar. The convicts were a lot smaller, but they definitely held their own and didn't take any crap from the O.
