How to euthanize a fish

first off do not ever flush a fish!
Second I have tried the alka-seltzer method... tad too inhumane for my taste.
Clove Oil method
1. Take a small jar (baby food jar size is perfect) and add a few drops of clove oil to the water.
2. Shake vigourously till the clove oil is mixed in with the water... should have a milky appearance
3. Add fish to be euthanised.
4. Wait 10-15 minutes for the fish to fall 'asleep'
5. Add Alcohol (about a 25% ratio to the water)
6. Let sit for 15-30 minutes.
You fish should be properly and humanely euthanised. do not use the oil solely as fish have been known to 'wake' from a clove oil mix. The oil is there to cause the fish to go to sleep and the Alcohol is there to euthanise it.

Clove oil, or cut its head off, it it's a very small fish crush it quickly with a FLAT brick/rock on a FLAT surface, it's instant, I had to do this to a guppy once, (I couldn't find clove oil) and it was instant. NEVER flush a fish! putting them in hot water(esecially wide bodied fish) causes them alot of pain before they die, which could take a while. Vodka/alcohol is also a terrible way to go, my friend tried it(I was there) with a tetra, it thrashed around and tried to jump out for about 15 secs, then we just cut its head off. It was obviously in severe pain.

I'm sorry ... cutting the head off a fish or squashing it with a rock disgusts me. Those shouldn't be considered ... there are better alternatives.

if they are dead, no problem.
but how can you see flushing a live fish? it's VERY inhumane.
Would you flush one of your perfectly healthy, happy fish?
Is that a joke? A fish is near dying and you want it to wallow around and suffer a bit more in some sewage before it dies?
I'd rather not not do either, but when you have no other way(don't have clove oil) and your fish is suffering, and obviously in pain, a .746464 second death is best. IMO.
