How do you seperate jave ferns? I have a java fern and it has tons of baby plants on it. How do I seperate the baby plants from the main plant?

I think you should wait until the leaf turns. the mother leaf usually dies if left long enough. Then I detach the babies. By then, the babies have enough mature root to make it on there own. Sometimes I even detach the mother leaf and let it float. The leaf is replaced.

I usually let them grow to about 1" and then carefully scrape them off the leaf with my fingernail. if it doesn't come off easily I leave it on until it's ready.

Thanks for the advice. The babies are pretty big right now actually.
I thought they would have fallen off by now. What do I do with all the baby java ferns? There a lot of them.

Here is a picture of the java fern.

Send all your baby Java ferns to me, if you don't want them (heh-heh).

Also the last picture looks to be Anubius barteri nana. Do not separate the baby leaf yet. Let that bad boy grow out first. Once you get a resonable length of rhisome, you can split it making sure that each piece has 2-3 leaves plus ample roots.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to give a few baby java ferns to a friend of mine. But other than that I don't know anyone else who would want them lol. I guess I'll just leave them in tank and eventually my tank look like a mini jungle lol.

:grinyes:mini jungle is the idea

Do I need to get drift wood to tie the baby java ferns on or will they be ok attaching themselve to some of the gravel?

The baby java ferns still haven't fallen off the mother plant yet.
