I'm An Idiot...

They're swimming around now, and seem to be doing better. ARGH!! Anyone know how to hatch brine shrimp? *goes searching site*

Some pics of them in my tank:

brine shrimp may be too small for these guys to see...when hatching, ignore the fancy bottle stuff. I just put an airline in a plastic tub, put the eggs in, put salt in, and overnight i have wonderful little brinies that seem to live forever.

Hey There,
I'm reminded of an old saying: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me." Those additional times have got me a bit worried for ya. :grinyes:
Could they maybe handle guppies?

I dont think you have any intention on taking these fish back. You are asking for advice on how to take care of them, and at the same time, you say you are going to take them back. It would help you get the advice you need if you will post your true intentions.

You know, I didn't ask for attitude, I asked for advice. Why should I have to justify myself to you people? As I said, I fully intended to take them back, I called the LFS at 10 am this morning to make sure they were open. PM me if you want their phone number to confirm this.

This is from my original post:

I don't know what to do. If I'd have known this, I wouldn't have bought them. I guess I'll be taking them back today. Does anyone keep these, or have any useful advice?

I think it's pretty clear I was undecided what to do, and looking for more info ... is this a crime?

And, since you're so interested, my husband was the one who asked if we can just try and make it work with them. Any other smarta*s comments or accusations? Kindly keep them to yourself!

Now, to all the nice, helpful people who responded... Beasts, I don't think I could bring myself to do that, besides, I love guppies!

NilsBaees, I read where brine shrimp are only good for a period of 8 hours (nutritionally). Plus, this sounds too involved for me.

I've heard chopped-up earthworms, and tubifex worms. I have a friend who owns a bait shop, I'm going to call him and see if he has anything over the winter.

PS... BLEEEEECHHH! :(

You shouldnt diss blue for trying to get to the bottom of this thread. I was thinking the same thing actually, You are getting rid of your fish first chance you can get and u want advice on how to keep them. I realize you were just trying to see if you could make it work but, imo blue isnt a smartass....very informative actually

If you cannot provide the correct tank specifications then i believe it would be wrong to keep them. I don't mean any offence to you for buying them. I would of done the same thing. He is a cute little thing. If you are having persistent problems with your lfs speak to them because it is in their (and the fishes) best interests.

I would of done the same thing.

Really, you would?

Personally, I don't understand people who take on the responsibility of bringing livestock into their home, without thoroughly researching the species in question, and knowing exactly what they're getting into. These are living things, folks. It's not (or shouldn't be) like picking up a new pair of shoes.

Which is exactly WHY I said "I'm an idiot"... now, can we please stop the bickering about what was CLEARLY stated in the first post, and get back to helpful advice? Wow, this is... you know what? Not worth it. Forget it, I'll look for help elsewhere. Just another example of power going to your head.

Thanks to all the people who had helpful comments, I really appreciate it.

BTW, there ARE ways to be helpful without being snotty, and I don't think Blue calling me a liar is helpful in any way. And what's this 'getting to the bottom of a thread?" Is that what this is all about?

Huh. I thought it was to get advice about fish. Well, I learned something.
