I apologize for the double post--I posted this earlier on the newbie forum, but I realized my question fits better over here. The solo inhabitant of my 10 gal tank (an aging gourami) died this morning. I am not going to buy a new fish for the tank, but there is a lot of java fern in there I'd like to keep alive until January, when I upgrade to a 55. Is there anything special I need to do to keep java fern alive, with no fish to care for? For example, do I still need to run the filter? Do I still need to do water changes, and if so, how often? And do I still need to use a chlorine/chloramine remover? Thanks for the help.
