Hop, Skip, Munch...

The background looks great. What did you paint it with?

Tanx! :)

It's a pigment that is used in the building trade to color stain concrete. Local brand name is Maj-Oxide. It's in powder form so it's easy to mix in with the concrete or mixed with water and applied with a brush during within first 24 hours of casting. It apparently has hardening properties as well and speeds up the curing process.

Got room for me?

Better send your measurements first so I can check against the inch per gallon rule! lol

LOL. I've just recently learned about mudskippers. They are so flippin cool!

We used to chase them and just about every other slimy/scaly critter around in mud puddles near the river when I was a kid. Growing up in Africa used to be plenty of fun - now it's becoming too "westernised" and the kids prefer nintendo and playstation to sunshine and mud puddles! :(

I was fascinated with them then and seeing them at the LFS just brought back so many memories...

Must resist the urge to buy another tank....

Resistance is futile... ask me I had 18 tanks and today was given another 20G and 5G that need a little silicone/glass replacement work - that makes 20 and the end isn't in sight yet as I still have space on my stand! lol

Ok so now I need names for my skippers (Yes I name most of my fish)...

1. Ixoxo & Inhlanzi (Zulu word for frog and fish - first one sounds like eee + coco)
2. Flip & Flop
3. Beavis & Butthead
4. Tweedledum & Tweedledee

Any suggestions?

I love Flip and Flop!

As for measurements....um, how big is that tank? Might need a major upgrade!

I may set up a mudskipper tank after I move. As it stands right now I have a 20 that I need to set up for my puffer and BBGs (they're in a 10 now) but I'm trying so hard to wait. (I wanna make the 10 a dwarf seahorse tank)

That's 1 vote for Flip & Flop!

It's a standard 20G and takes 11G to fill to the "sun deck" level. I'm expecting the skippers to reach around 6" in length in the next 12 months so with just the 2 of them it'll be just ever so slightly overstocked.

I originally wanted to build it into a 55G but thats bigger than my budget and display space can handle right now. Besides this is my first real attempt at a concrete background and so it's better to start small - failures can be easily hidden in the trash can! lol

For what it's worth I've waited nearly 8 months to build this tank! :)
