You didn't do a full-out defense...no. But I see you trying to reduce the pressure currently on him. You're a skilled old player...I'm not expecting you to give yourself away that easily. :)

How about answering the question highlighted in red, LC.

I didnt defend him at all. Im not sure how you surmise I was. Trying to get a train started on me over nothing? Youre so obvious. Youve already kept the train rolling on one innocent by admittedly jumping on it, I hope that everyone else can see as clearly as I can that you are trying to start a train of your own.
Chugga chugga chugga chugga...WOO WOOOOO!!!!
:grinyes:

No, not trying to start anything yet. Just ruffling feathers and seeing what comes of it.

Updated thoughts on who people are.
I'm going to paste my last major analysis from #544 (black text) and my updated thoughts are all in red text. Knowns are in green.

1. bethkira2000 : Pirate. Other than the tell that could be a typo as someone pointed out, most of the feelings that she is a pirate have to do with her reaction to questions. Maybe she is really upset at the heat she has taken but I remember a lot of heat going her way in game #18, her first game, and she didn't seem to take it this bad. She was innocent that game. I wish I had more to go on for my vote but at this point its the best gut feeling I have on day one.
Innocent. Well I screwed that one up, as many of us did. I don't know how Beth manages to wear a target on her townsclothes but poor woman does and the pirates must have been high fiving one another over the townspeople taking her out for them.

2. Hooked Newbie: Unsure, but again gut feeling says innocent. He seems to be willing to kick down doors and I don't recall anything that seemed off to me.
Innocent. His calling out both Rb and JM in #684 is the major reason for a move from leaning innocent to innocent. I think they are both pirates and I don't see a pirate calling out two other mafia members like that after the first nightfall.

3. Blueiz: Unsure, she hasn't said much. I know she had company for part of the weekend (you go girl) but her posting in the thread mid-day Sunday led me to believe that she perhaps had more time to post than she chose to do yesterday. Blue, I'm hoping to hear more from you today.
Unsure still. She isn't giving us much to think about. I don't like how she and DD both matched Beth's vote relatively late in the day. On one hand it could be a scum tell to want to align themselves with an innocent when they knew their votes weren't needed to lynch her. On the other, they may have been better about reading Beth than the rest of us. For now I'll leave her as unsure as there are more obvious pirates to lynch.

4. Dangerdoll: Unsure, but I'm thinking innocent. As I said last night she was one of the ones I'd like to hear more thoughts from. She did post not long after I said that with some detailed responses and questions of her own and did post a vote to walk the plank so hopefully she'll be posting more today.
Unsure. See comments about Blue above to see why DD moved from leaning innocent to unsure for me.

5. Lady G: Innocent, after reading her posts in the last 12 hours or so I feel she comes off as innocent. She not only answers questions that have been asked of her which shows she is willing to help the town, but she brings up good points about others which I sometimes missed.
Innocent. She has continued in the same manner.

6. IceH20: Unsure, with Ice I'll have a stronger feeling of pirate or not once I see if someone he is going after hard is innocent or guilty. He seems to play hard whichever role he is playing and it can throw me off when trying to figure him out. If he goes after someone hard and they turn out to be innocent (like he did with DD when she was Santa) I'll know he is swigging back pirate rum and fighting off skurvy.
Innocent. Detailed reason for this is in #677.

7. mee-mee: Unsure, sorry mee-Mee but I forget you're playing this game at times.
Unsure,
Unsure, she is definitely posting more since I made the first statement. But I don't know how to read her at this point. JL, JPap, what is it that you both saw that had you vote for her to walk the plank?

8. johnlarson66: Unsure but leaning a tiny bit more towards pirate at the moment. Again, just a gut feeling and as the game proceeds hopefully I'll have a better reason for feeling he is pirate or not.
Leaning Innocent. In #578 he calls out two of my pirate suspects. I don't feel he'd do that if he was a pirate and knows them to be as well. He is also playing different than he did when he was mafia in game 18. Even so, I'd still like to get his answers on why Mee-Mee is being so obviously pirate to him and why he seemed to swoop in on 2 different nights and post "I agree" to two of my posts making me me feel I had a shadow. So for now I'm getting mixed messages from JL but the ones saying innocent are louder.

9. Malbri: Unsure. Mal is a bit like Mg for me. She seems to play much the same way she chats in the AC chat room (ahem, not the pirate chat room people so don't jump there). I think she posted something earlier on about JM and LC maybe being the same person? It made no sense to me whatsoever. If she'd only post more I'm thinking she'll give us a tell one way or the other.
Unsure. Mal I've already told you that unless you start posting more than chitchat messages you're going to look more and more piratey to me.

10. LesbianChap: Innocent. At first I was suprised how hard he came out charging (before the game even started, lol). But his willingness to call so many out on the carpet has me feeling he isn't protecting pirate brothern.
Innocent. Still feeling the same from LC.

11. Lupin: Innocent, maybe too much so to play this game. This one might be confusing as the innocent has more to do with how I think of Lupin outside the game than in the game itself. I'm actually unsure of Lupin. Lupin, if you're innocent you really need to start speaking up and playing the game instead of just checking in with a hi post here and there. We need you to ask questions, help point out things some of us might have missed here in town, and start giving us reasons to look at others as pirates before we start to think you're one of them.
Unsure. Lupin, you're not really doing much to help the town. Could be because you're new and inherrently nice, but it could be because you're being coached to play innocent as well as cast a toss away vote to JPap.

12. jpappy789: Unsure, like Mee-Mee I forget JPap is in the game.
Pirate. Not much to go on here as JPap seems to have moved out of ACville (and perhaps boarded a pirate ship?) I don't like the vote for Mee-Mee without reason. Something about that just screams "Hi guys, checked real quick with my pirate brothern and they have told me to cast a toss away vote to appear innocent and to do it against Mee-Mee cause she apparently suspects me somewhere in the thread"

13. rbishop : Pirate. LadyG's posts were very persuasive to me this morning. It will be interesting to see how he responds to some of her direct questions.
Pirate. You an call him Bob, ModBob, Bob the Mod, PirateBob or PirateMod, but whatever you don't call him InnocentBob. (those reading this might not be old enough to remember that beer commercial). In any event, Bob you've pretty much been appearing guilty from the get go. You weren't answering my direct questions before nightfall and you became awfully quiet when the hit was botched. Have another swig of pirate rum and pass out before you can do more damage please.

14. Mgamer20o0 : Innocent (everyone say "duh" together). Mg, if you're reading this I hope you play again. I so want to see you do a Dexter game where one of the good guys is actually a serial killer.
Innocent.

15. Madcrawdad: Leaning Innocent. He seems willing to kick down doors to me, but time will tell.
Leaning Innocent. I like the questions he is asking so far so it has me thinking he could be innocent. I've been told in the past that he is very clever though so I'm wondering...is he asking the right questions because he smells something piratey? Or is he tossing enough questions to suspected pirates because it will create some distance from them? For now I'm thinking it is the former.

16. judgemax : Pirate. Sorry but guilt by association my friend. When Beth stood up for you early on it didn't set right with me. Less so now that I'm leaning towards her being a pirate. Hopefully with your busy weekend behind you now you'll be able to participate more today so I can have a feeling more on your own words and actions.
Pirate. But pirate for a different reason. I know you're busy, so are all of us. You seem to be playing really low this game. Really low. I found you only calling LC and HN out suspect. The remark about Ice changing votes faster than underwear was funny but um, sounded like the result of pirate ship laughter at the rest of us lynching poor Beth while you had placed a safe vote by agreeing with a known innocent's vote to lynch LC (known innocent to pirates). You weren't so giggly after the pirate hit was botched though. See if Bob will share some of the pirate rum with you on your ship.

17. Grins : Innocent. I'm asking questions and not hiding behind someone else's coat tails. I'm also not taking inquisitions personally as everyone who is innocent should be willing to quickly clear themselves. Without doing that we innocents just help the pirates by giving them something to confuse people with.
Innocent. Yep, still innocent and I should probably make this one green because some pirate will probably question why I don't know I am innocent. But :silly: you're not going to manipulate me like that.

Doing an ability analysis, as Clown suggested.

Your goal is to hunt down Black Beard and all of his men and bring them to justice for their crimes against the Queen. If you die your town and all of its people will come under the jurisdiction of Black Beard and his men. The town will be lost. You rely on Watchmen for your information about possible pirates. You must pay dearly for this information. You may communicate with the magistrate outside of the thread.
The governor must stay alive. Can buy info from the thief (if he finds them), and communicate with the Magistrate.
I doubt he's found the thief this early in the game. No real usable ability then, other then a communicating innocent.
He can only find them if his magistrate and or watchman find them or the thief finds them in reverse right? The gov doesn't get to directly investigate does he?

Magistrate – You are the law in this small sea side town and are responsible to create order amongst the chaos in the land. During one evening vote you may choose to annul any lynching and put the prisoner in your jail. The prisoner will be able to communicate twice in the forum while in your jail and will be under your protection. You may release him at your peril or slaughter them and complete the towns lynching. You may communicate with the governor outside of the thread. If the Thief finds you I will notify you and you may decide whether or not you wish to barter with them for information. You may also bribe the thief to feed false information to the pirates. If you die the governor loses his investigations. You may use the board PM system, email or other PMing software to talk with the Watchman about his investigations. He is not allowed in your chat room. You may not reveal his identity to anyone. You may not reveal the identity of the thief to anyone.
Can null a vote to lynch once. Can talk to the governor and Watchman. Can talk to the thief IF the thief finds him.
Chances are if someone's getting lynched, the Magistrate will agree with the lynching and have little or no reason to stop the lynching. I don't think that's really helpful...and by the time all the votes are in, there's little that can be said to convince the town of one's innocence.
I'm not reading that the same as you are, it sounds to me as if the magistrate notifies Bala that he is putting the likely to be lynched person in his jail and that protects them from the lynch that night. He would obviously want to do that if the likely lynched person was the Governor or Watchman. And as the game proceeds he'll be more likely to use this one time protection if the likely lynched person is believed to be innocent by him. Especially now that we are down 2 innocents.

I think the biggest advantage of this role is to communicate with 2 players from the start of the game, 3 IF the thief finds him. I doubt the thief has this early in the game.

Watchman – You are the man with all of the answers. You see all of the comings and goings in the harbor and have a keen sense of when things are wrong in your little neck of the woods. You are able to investigate any of the players within the game. Your investigation will be communicated to the magistrate through the board PM system, email or other PMing software. You are not allowed in the magistrate/governors chat room. You may not reveal your identity to anyone. You may protect any one individual during the evening from the pirate hit. (this may not be discussed with the Magistrate through the PM system) You may even protect yourself if they are getting to close to your scent.
Gets a nightly investigation. Can protect one player from pirate hit every night. Can talk to the Magistrate.
The investigation is nice, and valuable, and I'm sure whoever the Watchman is is using it. The protection is less useful, as the watchman MUST guess who the pirates are hitting accurately...which I don't think is going to be easy to do. Being able to communicate with other innocents is a plus.
Not easy to do no, but the watchman would be foolish to not exercise their ability to do this. If the watchman suspects who the pirates are leaning hard on they should be sending in a protection order for them. If the watchman thinks they know who the gov is they should be sending in a protection order for him. At the very least the watchman knows who they are and who the magistrate is and they should be sending in a protection order for one of them. I'm thinking the watchman is not foolish and exercised this right to protect someone and that is why the pirate hit was botched last night. Oh and pirates.... :silly: to you.

Guard – You are the guard and have a one time shot to execute anyone within the game of your choosing. You will email me your request on whatever night you choose. Your execution cannot be protected by anyone. You NOT communicate with the governor, magistrate or watchmen outside of the thread. Depending on the number of people who sign up there may be two of these roles.
Gets to kill someone...only one person, and only once.
Well, a sure-fire kill is rather nice...but he'll have to choose his target correctly, as if he choses wrong, he can't try again the next night.
True, and since no hit took place last night from the guard it would appear he is being selective with this power.

Townie – You live in ACVille, a small sea side town that is currently under siege by Black Beard and his pirates. You have a feeling of dread that you will be pillaged or worse things by Black Beard if he gains control of the town. You may not communicate outside of the thread.
No abilities.
No help here.
No powers maybe, but as townies we all need to do our part and participate with more than chit chat or a hit and run post.

The pirates can all communicate, the Cooke can protect anyone but the captain, and can do so for two nights...The Captain can also promote someone else to captain, forcing us to kill two captains if we lynch the original...One question to ask is if there can be two captains at the same time, or if promoting one will demote the original. They get an execution each night, and access to investigations from the thief, and every pirate gets that knowledge. Since it's unlikely the thief has found the magistrate, false knowledge is probably not being given to the pirates yet.

I still see the pirates having the vast advantage...fully able to talk, protect themselves from lynching, and kill an innocent (one they know is an innocent) every night...if only we could find the name of blackbeard, and communicate who he is to the Guard without him promoting another Captain...except it must be done openly on the thread, and if Blackbeard suspected a hit on himself he's sure to promote another thief to keep his side alive.

What am I missing...anyone else see what Clown is alluding to?

I posted my responses above in green. Hopefully clown can answer the questions about the pirate promotion.

ok, here are some of my thoughts.

LC, hes top on my list of suspects at this time. I dont like that he admittedly jumped on a train . He came out full force at the start of the game, but now its like hes ot so up an the game, his noobiness is showing through. Did whoever is coaching you LC, have to leave for a bit?

Grins, she has peeked my suspicion however Im on the fence with her at this time. She is an aggressive player, but that doesnt make her mafia or innocent. She will slip up eventually if she is mafia.

RB, he is very serious this game, not like the RB Ive played with in the past at all.

MeeMee, something isnt right with her, call it a gut feeling if you will, I cant put my finger on it.

JM, same goes for her as with mee mee.

Lady G, this is the first time I think I have ever said this about anyone, much less LG. I have her leaning innocent.

Im not sure where my vote will end up, LC is standing out the most to me at this time, however. Id ike to get to the one that is coaching him first. Ice or HN prhaps? What makes me say those two is they are both aggressive players and I dont see that agressiveness this round really.

Thanks for posting your thoughts. What are you thoughts on the other players?

You're also defending RB and attacking almost everyone who's called him a pirate...sounds like you know what side he's on, for good or ill, and think everyone else is on the other team.

I've missed her defending RB and attacking anyone really. Where are you seeing this?

Did you edit your post LC? Cause I could have sworn it said JM.

Since you are now saying RB, can you please tell me how I defended RB?

Did I edit it? Sure did...noticed I did the RB/JL mixup again...and thought I'd fix it before anyone else posted.

Um, that isn't allowed LC. No editing. If you make a simple mistake, just post as soon as you realize it. It keeps the thread honest. If you weren't new I'd think this was really scummy.

I think that Clown may be alluding to the fact that it appears the Magistrate may trump Cooke's protection one time. If a pirate is outed and sent to the gallows, Cooke can protect them from the lynch for up to 2 nights. Should the Magistrate desire, though, they can imprison the protected party and kill them at will....could come in pretty handy in a race to the finish.

Hopefully Clown will nod his head yes or no towards some of these interpretations.

By the way (notice I'm not editing but creating a new post?) it isn't JL you mixed up with RB, it was JM.

Sorry, lap top decided to post before I was finished with my response.

The ones I have listed have stood out to me the most. Dont have anything to say about the others. Everyone but myself is suspicious to me.
