I was in a fish store yesterday checking out the SW section and I came across this tank with this bright green eel looking thing. I've read about green wolf eels but never have seen one, the coloration was amazing. Anywho, I hunched over to get a better look at it and it sticks its head out of the water and stares at me :22_yikes:. When it did that I backed waayy up but kept watching, he went back down and swam around for a few seconds more, then did it again!!? This time he stared for a little longer, I had a feeling of what was going to happen but before I could get out of the area he jumped right at my face! I had to bat him down with my arm! Can you believe that? It was surreal, I ran to tell the owner and he got him in time, but what the heck. I remember feeling his jaw trying to close down on my arm over my jacket.

Long story short I'm going to convert another FW tank to SW and get him. lol

Haha wow...its meant to be. Just get a good top for the tank so he doesn't kill you in your sleep. :p

That's wacky and your are brave! Like to hear stories when you do a water change - maybe you can get one of those metal sleeves that knight used to wear.

First of , great story, these marine creatures never seize to amaze. Wolf eels are cool but are extremely aggressive and get large. If your talking about what the most fish stores sell as a green wolf eels or green wolf blenny is neither, but actually of the dottyback family (congrogadus subducens). It only grows to 1 1/2' and isn't supposed to be near as aggressive as actual wolf eels. I'm trying to get my LFS to track one down from one of their suppliers, they have never heard of such a fish and was quite amazed when I googled some information on the eel for them. Hopefully a nice addition in the new year. Good luck.

Ya know...I'd want to know why any fish store carrying a green wolf eel did not have a lid on the tank.

SO TRUE!

That is cool, I have never seen a Green Wolf in person, would love to!

By the way, not cool that he tried to bite you, but cool that he did that. You know what I mean. Anyways, I love eels, would never get one again though.

I dive Puget Sound. I stumble across wolfeels pretty frequently.
once you get use to their size..they aren't too bad..I have hand fed them..they love dungeoness crabs.

as do the Giant Octopus. i did run across one very large Octopus seems I stumbled into his cave.;)

both are very curious of divers.

Looks like that fish def. wants a home. Wish I had a tank to make it agressive.
