FW 10g Planted Tank

nice tanks and pictures. we have the same heaters and thermometers.. weird.lol

Thanks
Those heaters are about 75% dependable.. My last one something happened with it and over night it brought my water temperature up to 90-92 degrees.. lucky me only the fry were in that tank and no damage was done.

And that thermometer is the best though bulky, but love the way it just snaps on and off, i dont even keep a thermometer on my 10g i just at times measure it with the bulky one.

How do those of you with planted tanks manage all the growth some of the plants have. I'm guessing you use a mix of slow growers and fast but how often do you find you have to trim the fastest growers back?
I cant speak much on the whole trimming thing since i havent had my planted tank for that long and there isnt much to trim just yet. But i would imagine a weekly trim here and there.

how did u make the co2?
2 bottles, 1 is 1.5L other is 1L
Drilled a small hole in the cap (smaller than the circumference of the typing)
at one end cut the tubing on an angle and insert it into the hole you made in the cap, since the hole is smaller than the tubing you will need some pliers to pull it through. Have around and inch past the cap.
For the mix, many people use different mixes but i did this:
1.5L bottle --- 1 1/4 cups of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of yeast, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, add to the bottle and shake until no sugar is seen. (whole mixture should be up to the part where the top of the bottle is starting to curve in) Now you can either screw on the cap with the tubing and hook it up to your tank or you can leave it over night to activate.
For a way to diffuse it in the water i used a wooden airstone (as shown previously) and placed it under my filter.

Been getting 2 weeks of continuous co2. Once this runs out i will be trying the diy Jello co2 since i have read that it works for 2-3 months.
