Wait a minute, I did some research, found out there was a typo. Wow, I've thought wrong for so long. Thanks for correcting me, I learned something . And everyone I talked to about them read the same article so thats why I firmly believed I was right.
I thought I was right....But H#ll with the name. I might get the little fish with colored spots on their sides....
I was actually thinking of getting flame tetras, My LFS had some in the last time I was in but they were not impressive at all. They had no color but I know what they can look like in a nice setup.
That can just be stress from being kept in a store tank. Give them conditions they like, and they'll color-up beautifully. Lemon tetras are like that. Often bland-looking in stores, but gorgeous at home.
If you want an inexpensive, no fuss school of fish, Harelquin Rasboras are my favorites. They have bold patterns, not necessarily bright, but they do have a gold glitter to them at the right angles. Check them out here.
