10 GALLON

1. Can i get a link to how i can build my own Co2.

2. Well all i know about the lighting is that it uses screw in bulbs.

3. What would be a good list of fish i can put in there.

4. I cant really go big on the lighting only 15 years old.

5. I would like to put some snails.

Ok, you're kinda being lazy as many 15 year olds tend to be. There's a DIY section on the forum. Check there for instructions. Also try googling "DIY Co2".

Screw in bulbs are incandescent. So buy 2 compact fluorescent bulbs. They should be able to screw into your hood. Beware of it dipping into the water since screw in compact fluorescent bulbs tend to be thick.

Several people made fish suggestions above your post. Read them.

You don't need to go big on the lights. Screw in compact fluorescent bulbs run like 5-10 bucks each depending on where you get them.

If you're not picky about the snails, they're free. You'll probably be ordering your plants online unless you got a really good LFS near you. Just buy plants from somebody with snails in their tank. You're almost guaranteed to get hitchhikers and they will repopulate in no time. You can even request they add snails to your order.

1. Thanks for your help.

2. And yea i will see for bulbs in my local pet shop.

3. I would like a different list with fish that would work for a 10 and are good in planted tanks so that i can make my choice.

Don't look for the bulbs in your pet shop. They won't sell them there. You'll find them at like walmart or some hardware store.

Here is a pic of my planted 10g...also a pic of the screw in cfl bulbs I have...Lights are 10w Daylight 6500k bulbs I got in a pack of 2 at Walmart for $6..You could probably get some 13w ones to fit ..I went with the 10w because I was afraid the bulb might be a tight fit and hit the hood but they are not.
