I did water changes this weekend without using a bucket at all

Oh well, it inspired me to do that. But when do you add the water treatment? I thought the water had to be treated first before it hit the fish. New to that concept sorry.

During water changes, I always add prime to my tank first , then add the water. Never had a problem.

Also.....so, I've never owned a python, but I thought the whole thing was designed so you didn't need a bucket? Did you just get the python and are now vasking in the glory....or is there something I'm missing?

I've always had a gravel siphon attached to a 25 foot hose so I could run the water outside, into a floor drain, etc. Never had a python.

I do the same thing. Drop the dechlorinator in before I add the water...No problems....

I knew this guy when I was a kid that made his living breeding Angelfish and then later Discus. When he did water changes on the Angels he piped it in with a garden hose. Just drained some out, added dechlorinator and hosed it back in. If he did it that way I guess there isn't an issue.

Sure as hell beats hikin buckets down the stairs to the basement from the only tub in the house on the 1st floor...It will also allow me to do bigger water changes each time. I start draining water out and then start thinking about how many buckets I have to haul downstairs and will cut the WC off early. Now I'm doing 50% rather than 25-30%.

i like the water thermometer but for $3.00 I bought a digital paper kind like for the side of tank and taped on the Python hose about 2 feet from sink and Presto instant temperature.

Put the python valve on the hose end where the hand sprayer is attached. The same as on the shower pipe only it will be hanging down by the bottom so you wont get wet. You may have to hold it till the temp is good because it may flip around as the water sprays out the python valve. Let it run till the temp is ok and shut the valve as usual..sorry i wasnt more clear on that idea..

Just leave the python in the drain position and match the water temp coming out the bottom of the tee ....then turn it to the fill position.

I'm still scared to not add de-chlorinator beforehand even though I've heard from numerous people who've done it with no problems. I do something similar except I have a tub I use as a holding tank. I dechlorinate there, then pump the water into the tank.

The only thing that sucks is that the shower door is at a 45 degree angle to the shower head and when getting the temp right I literally get pretty soaked. I really need to get something to put over the nozzle so the water all goes straight down. As of right now all I do is throw the bathmat in the dryer for 30 minutes and I'm good to go...

why don't you take the spigot off the tub instead of the shower head, and you will be above the water, i would just make a 90*, the only thing you would need to watch is the back pressure from coming out the shower head, i don't have one of these systems so i don't know if that would be a problem or not.
