I'm dying for a tank!!! I found this on ebay...it is 2 hours from my house...a) Is this a good deal at 500. and b) would it make the 2 hour commute back in the car??

Up for auction is a 55 gallon saltwater tank, my husband built the cabinet and it is 42 1/4" tall, 52" wide, 14 1/2" deep and is painted black. The tank itself is glass, it has a "deep sandbed", all live sand, about 35lbs of live rock, Odyssey light( it needs 3 new bulbs, I replaced one of the actinics a week ago) 2 penguin filters, one with sponge and one without. visi-therm stealth premium aquarium heater, coralife digital power center timer, breeder tray, magnum 350 canister filter with bio-wheels, hydromoter, water test kit, magnet cleaner, 2 nets and two extra filter sleeves. In the tank is 2 clownfish, 1 green chromis, 1 lawnmower blenny, 1 pajama cardinal, 1 royal gramma, 1 coral beauty angel fish, 2 tube anenomes, 1 feather duster, 1 horseshoe crab, a few blue leg hermit crabs, 1 porcelain crab, and about 130 nassarus snails. This tank has been running for a year and a half, and is an awesome tank!! and a great hobby! pick-up only. Thanks for looking!!

Sounds like a sweet deal. Although hauling a setup like that would be an impressive feat but it can be done. You could probably get the tank and equipment cheaper but your paying for the livestock and LR. I think its a good buy.

I think thats a good buy for 500

You would just have to put everything in buckets, make sure the LR is in water.

You will probably need to drive with the heat on so it doesn't get too cold but I think it would be worth it.

Not a bad deal if you have a van, I'd try to get rid of the limulus (horse-shoe crab) - they get waaaaay too big for most tanks.

Yeah, I thought the horseshoe was a bit odd too. I saw a pic of the tank...35lbs of LR didn't look like much in that 55g!

What do you all think of the equipment? Would I end up needing to replace it or is it decent quality?

I'm also wondering how much it would be to replace those bulbs she is talking about.

I'm going to email her with some questions...like has she ever used copper, why they are selling, ich history, etc...anything ya'll can think of that I should also include in my questions is much appreciated.

130 nassarius snails, are they serious?
other than the crazy invertebrate situations it sounds like a good deal to me- if you are looking for a tank that is :)

They could be the small ones that stay about the size of a large Cerith.. :)

It looks like this was a FOWLR but I would eventually want to add corals so I'm guessing the lighting would need to be upgraded?

There is not enough LR in there now...is it safe for me to add more without worries of hurting the existing fishies/nem/etc?
