New to the forums got 3 gold fish and 2 sharks

I think this leaves you the option to either lower the temp while rehoming the sharks or remove both species completely and replace them with tropical species.:) Let us know which fish you like and we can help there. It is best you research first before you buy any fish.

i tried researching the fish but at 2 of the lfs i go to they are called hong kong sharks or hong kong catfish i looked up both and didnt find anything...

second i ask alot of questions to the people at my lfs and it said the two fish would be good together i asked about the temp difference cause i know goldies are cold water fish and the other i dont know..the water heat my gold fish were liked the most was like 74 before i had it a lil lower and it was streesing the fish and the guy at my lfs said to move it to 74 and after that they seem to be at there normal behavior a gold fish would be at...and also i told both people at 2 different lfs that my temp was about 74 75 they said that would be good for the sharks....

so i dont know what to do i like both fish..how long will it take to the shakrs to get too one foot?
 
I'd definately say get rid of both. Irridescents grow insanely fast and 75 degrees is no good for them.
 
It can be incredibley frustrating to get advice from a fish store, and then come here and get conflicting advice. But keep in mind the fish stores are in business. The people on this forum are offering their experience for the interest of the fish. Just something to keep in mind. Plus since finding this forum I have found the advice here trumps what I get at my local fish store. I do get decent advice from my fish store, but it is usually slanted so I can get what I am asking about. Rarely am I told something would not work.
 
yeah its extremely frustraing i finally got fish and a setup in my tank the really enjoy now i got to get rid of my mind attraction but as soon i take them back they gonna go back in a gruop of like 20 in like a 35 galloon and get sold and hopefully to someone with a big tank lol...well im planning on tanking them back monday as well with my goldfish and try to get some more fish to work out in my 60 gallon
 
fish i like are ones that can grow lets say a max of six inches i dont know something semi aggeessive or not agrezssive at all not barbs had some and had some molly to small for my likings lol...any ideas? and pics will help ...if u got the time..

First, welcome to AC!

Second, it can be frustrating at first (speaking from personal experience). It will be alot less frustrating in the long run if you bite the bullet now and heed the advice the folks here are giving you. Start over, do it right, and enjoy it for years. :)

yeah thats what im gonna do or in april i might get my 120 gallon and do the whole change im not sure yet butt ill keep everyone posted im gonna look at the gallery and see the fish i like and post them here and see what fish are compatible with them..

Growth rate depends on how you take care of them but it is quite easy to stunt these fish so I would rehome them as soon as possible before you get strongly attached to them. You have a choice of rehoming them while giving them the chance to live a healthy life or keep them and they suffer for a long time without a larger tank possible (300 gallons+).

Do not listen to your local fish stores. More often than not, their advice are inaccurate or inconsistent. You are not alone quite the contrary being given the wrong advice. Paroon sharks are not coldwater species and will never do well with goldfish around. They can easily outcompete the goldfish for food.
