was just wondering how often do you do water changes on a nano tank?the tank is a 5.5 gal, with lots of live rock (set up to mimic a tidal pool)filtered with a fluval 204 thats full of live rock, there is no sponge what soever in the filter, everyone is happy in this little gem, should I do water changes once a week or once a month?or biweekly?? thanking you in advance

Nano tanks do best with frequent water changes. My recommendation is a minimum of once per week. If you are able to do biweekly changes, then all the better.

I would agree more with the Bi-weekely honestly. I know a guy here locally that has a 10 gallon and changes a gallon daily.

hmm I have a 12g, I have been changing 5 gallon once weekly.. I wonder if I should switch and do half of that twice a week..

Is there much stress to inhabitants (corals, pods, coralline, etc) when having it out of the water to do the change?

I do about 30% weekly in my 8 gallon, and have managed to keep nitrate at 0 with this schedule. when I started the tank, I was doing water changes biweekly, but cut back a bit as it has started to mature. My schedule was the same when I had this tank in a 5.5 gallon before I moved it into the 8.

I'd just keep a close eye on perameters with a liquid test kit, and let the results tell you what your schedule should be.

i do once every 2-3 months O.o and it seems fine. i dont even acclimate fish, i just net them in. i have lots of live rock and live sand, and have a couple of chemi-pures in my nano filtration. and i also have a big cleanup crew (hermit crabs mainly).

Does bimonthly mean 'twice a month' or 'every two months'?

I'm afraid it means both! But in the publishing industry, it is used fairly consistently to mean 'every two months'. The same ambiguity affects biweekly and biyearly. If you want to be absolutely clear, use a phrase such as 'twice a week' or 'every two years'.
