thank you guys very much!!!! I understand about the plants... but that will be a little bit down the road. that will be our next venture after the 65G South American theme and the 10G cardinal tank, and our 40 gold fish tank.
Sky is playing in the current from the power filter, I guess its not to much for him, im glad because I was going to have to rig something to slow the current.

Bettas have a definite "play" instinct and make up games for themselves. I'm convinced of this. For example, my betta "Rocky" like to swim in a circle around the magnetic algae-scraper that's hanging on his tank wall: it's so close to the surface, he has to swim on his side to get over the top. :screwy: :grinyes:

Good setup, but if you're going to group all the tall stuff together at one end of the tank, I would have done it on the end with the filter to hide it all.

I'd give the betta a 4, and the tank a 2.
I like live plants and dark gravel :P

I think black gravel would bring his colors out alot more, and some driftwood and dark plants, like java fern or moss, or both.

Some easy and normally none-expensive plants to try out would be java moss, anacharis and water sprite.

He's going to be beautiful(-er lol) in a few months.

the betta has hiding spots, filtered water, and a seemingly good, caring owner. what more could you possibly ask for :grinyes:

if your happy with the tank, thats all that matters. your giving your little betta there a life most bettas would kill for.

keep up the good work making them fish happy :headbang2:

I like it. I'm a SW girl, but I like Bettas. I have one myself. He's a cute little guy.

don't worry so much about what other people think; its your tank. also the great thing about this particular forum is that if you actively seek out opinions you will get some cool constructive feedback and criticism, which you can either apply to the tank or not :)

its a lovely tank with a really sweet little betta - if it was me, as you are asking for opinions, I would do as sploke said and use some decor to hide the filter. I also would add a black background.

you've got a really nice little fish there in any event and its a lovely set up for a lucky betta - he's clearly well looked after :)

Thank you everyone, we have been talking about putting a black background on ... haven't done it yet of course :)

Very nice setup I however will join the others and add my 2c

You can get at LFS betta bulbs that are the easiest thing to start off with just push them in the gravel and wait no fuss no muss.

I also think that a darker gravel will really bring out sky's blue and make it pop.

good luck with him you are on the right path and sounds like you have MTS (multi tank syndrome):grinyes:
