If we didn't have cold winters or I had a full basement that didn't leak, yeah I'd get one of those for him, unfortunately there just isn't room in my house for it. I hate the fact I have to get rid of him, but I was PROMISED by someone with a 600g tank they would take him once he was big...well, they didn't keep their promise and do not want him now. Very sad, cause he is a wonderful guy!!Hehe Lady G, your pacu is plump looking!
Maybe it's not feasible but a fairly cheap solution might be to get one of these:

or something similar if you have the room..
No, I do not feed him color enhancers, he just eats really good! He gets frozen bloodworms, krill, shrimp (he can eat em whole), silversides, cichlid pellets and sticks, and beefheart. I just defrost a mixture and throw it in. He is a PIG, the other fish barely get a chance to eat!hey lg i never saw a pacu so red at that size. do you feed him color enhancers?
i also agree that they should not be sold at all. i feel the same way about most catfish that get huge, as well as bala and irredescent sharks, wolf fish, piranha, comon and other large pleco.... these fish rarely have a tank large enough to accomodate their needs. there are plenty of fish in the hobby to avoid monsters. i find silver dollars a nice replacement to them. they stay smaller, look similar, are peaceful, and school nicely.
If not , and you want to ship I'll take him and put him in my friend's 300.Yes BFK, I have called. No place will take him, 2 of them do not sell them because well they are reputable and know how big they can get and do not sell fish that they believe the average person can not house. The other just does not accept fish period.
I did find a Pacu rescue place...they do not take them but they try and help you find a home for them. Hopefully they can help.

It is very easy to ship fish. I will give you the steps later!Really? How would I ship him, I really would consider it if I can do it. I just want him to have a good home, and I know I can't give it to him here. To bad you weren't in Springfield IL, instead of Mass...I could just bring him up to ya!
