Natural Snail control in my Shrimp tanks

Are these snails legal to import? Do they get quarantined or does it just look like a regular package so it just goes through customs? I'd love to order some, but at the same time, it needs to be legal because it would be really embarrassing to have the Feds show up on my doorstep.

Right now there is no specific mention of them in the regulations. I believe it is only the Pomaceas that require a permit, since common rams and MTS, etc, don't require permits. Though perhaps msjinkzd has some input here... ?

As far as I know they're legal. I'm not sure how the university researcher I'm getting mine from would have obtained them if they're illegal. Fairly sure he wouldn't sneak them in. :D

I have been watching closely and can tell my 3 snails apart by the shells and each has eaten two snails since getting them last week and one just started on a MTS about the same size as itself. They do indeed "sleep" for a day or so after a large meal then come out hunting again. So it looks so far as though each will eat about 3 snails a week... Very early to set this in stone, but that is what I am seeing so far.

I am curious if anyone knows about breeding of these snails? What the egg(s) look like and where they are laid.

cheers, Bill

Bill, I don't know for sure, but if I remember correctly, they lay eggs. I think I chatted with the person in the Netherlands that you purchased your snails from, but it's been six months or so.
