Earthquake

Murrieta? He probably felt something, but he should be fine.
Haha, first thing I did was run and brace myself against my tank. Knocked some stem plants loose, but didn't even slosh out any water.
Man, if that had been a big one, I just might have risked my neck for a few fish.

I was talking to my brother on the phone when it hit. He is in Simi Valley and it shook them up pretty good but didn't break anything.

Whoa that was fun! Lets do it again!

sure plants as long as your coming here to refill the tanks........ all my tanks are fine. i have a bunch of stuff that fell...... lots of water on the floors..... i was walking to the tanks to catch some galaxy rasboras to send out right as it hit. there was a boom like high gust of wind or something..... i stopped next to the racks..... 2-3 secs it started to move...... a held onto my racks more so my free standing one with nothing behind it. i yelled for someone to come and help out. other then some water out of the tanks i think everything is fine. nothing was close to tipping over even if i wasnt there.

The only Murietta I know of is a couple hundred miles from here.

I finally thought () to check Mapquest. He's about 50 miles from Chino Hills. Still can't get through, but it could just be congestion.

I hope the CPDs are all ok! They need to come be safe here. :grinyes:

I have always wondered about aquariums in earthquake prone areas.

Pray? :grinyes:

Do you guys use any kind of safety tie downs or other equipment to prevent tip overs?

There's a couple of posts at The Krib discussing the experiences of some saltwater keepers during either the Northridge or Landers quakes: I think one guy did have some straps around his stand. Amazingly, one reported that his live rock tumbled against the glass in an avalanche, but nothing broke.
