It might never happen. A meteor could always hit first and cause a global extinction. ;)
 
ScienceDaily (Apr. 15, 2008) — California has more than a 99% chance of having a magnitude 6.7 or larger earthquake within the next 30 years, according scientists using a new model to determine the probability of big quakes.

The likelihood of a major quake of magnitude 7.5 or greater in the next 30 years is 46%-and such a quake is most likely to occur in the southern half of the state.

They have been saying that as long as I can remember. Supposedly the Northridge earthquake was supposed to be the precursor to the big one and nothing yet.

People make too big of a deal about them.

People... meaning scientists? The more they study this, the more accurate they become at predicting things. I've always heard predictions about the next 30-50 years, I never recall anyone stating any certainty that an earthquake would occur right after Northridge...
 
im so glad i dont do 'quakes anymore.. i'll stick with my blizzards and new england road rage drivers ;) much more my style.

Yes, scientists.

Even with all the technology we have we still have no way to predict earthquakes.

When the big one hits, then I will eat my words. Until then, its all hearsay to me because Ive heard the same thing my whole life.

Anyway, I felt it. It was quite a frightening experience. I was hoping for my tanks they would be fine. Thankfully the quake didn't last long. If it did, oh hell
 
Glad everyone seems to be ok. I've often wanted to tally up all the different ways the history, nat. geo., and discovery channel say the worlds going to end and then take bets on how we are going to go down. But, the last show I watched said we were all going to die in 2011 (end of the world) so maybe we won't have to wait very long.

But seriously, I'm not moving out the CA or the surrounding region specifically because of earth quakes. I hate when the train goes by 100yrds away and shakes my building.
