fish dying in just 1 hour

They are 2 feet tank.. with only 8 tetras housed inside..
When I just put them in, they school together, but later one by one apart from each other and start to behave oddly.. they didnt swim properly..

I'm visitting LFS tommorow? what is the important thing that I might want consider to get?
Basically I only have the tank, powerhead + sponge, light and thermometer.

I will get testkit like ammonia, nitrate, clorine, pH, maybe a hydrometer? and what else?

A water treatment... Prime or Amquel+.

oh yeah right, hydrometer isnt needed for FW.
I was trying to say gH kit.

May I know what Prime or Amquel + for?

Mainly dechlorinates water but I believe both remove or dextoxify stuff in the nitrogen cycle (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate). I always forget exactly which does what but neither should be used in place of a cycled tank and water changes. Only use to dechlorinate and for emergency spikes in the params.

Whenever I buy 4 or more neons I always have one die for some reason! Read up on the cycle and get a couple hardy fish to do it for you or try some of the fishless ways to cycle a tank. Then go buy more!

enjoy

Neon stocks are pretty fragile nowadays. it's not unusual for people to lose their whole stock within days of getting them.

I would go for plant cycle..
I would search for that article again..

The term you will hear used more is 'silent cycle'...really no different from fishless cycling except plants can help to speed it along.

OMG! Un...effing...believeable!
How many more times will we see this kind of thing??
People PLEASE!!! Think!!!

Take it easy! Fish keeping is a learning experience. No need to be bashing people for making mistakes that all of us have done before.
