How to deal with Body of Favorite Fish - that's Passed Away?

Hi guys,

My betta, Neptune, has finally passed away from months suffering from tumor and constipation (the pea trick didn't work, either).
I have a feeling he has drowned last night/this afternoon, because the tumor and constipation (from the tumor adjacent to his belly) has been giving him a problem to swim for a while.

My problem now is that I don't know what to do with his body. He is my first pet, and he has taught me everything I know today about compassion for animals - all animals. He has taught me what it really means to truly take care of someone else. And he has been there for me, sitting beside me on the other side of the glass when I feel sad and cry, something that none other of my pets (and even friends) were able to do for me.

From that, you probably already know I wouldn't be flushing him or just throwing his body away. I don't know what to do respectfully, with his body. Please help me out, I couldn't really think of good ideas at this moment.

Thanks for any help. God bless his soul.

a proper burial comes to mind. find a nice spot in the yard for him. or maybe next to a pond river or lake where his spirit could swim on.

I bury all my meaningful pets, you should too. I agree with austinpetemo, bury him in a good spot in the yard. Sorry for your loss. :(

Aww, it that him in your avatar? Pretty fish. I'm sorry for your loss. After a while you'll want a new but different pet, maybe a different color betta.

I agree, burial of a special pet is a good way to go. Maybe near a pretty shrub wrapped in a biodegradable paper towel, deep enough with a few rocks to keep scavengers away. I have done this with special fish & birds.

Sorry for your loss. :(

I agree with finding a good spot and burying him. You could even use a rock or something to mark the site if you'd like to.
