What Do You Feed Your Dog(s)?

We add pineapple to keep the same dog from eating poo
Barbie
Thank you for reminding me about the pineapple thing, my shepherd came up a licked me face yesterday after eating a large pile of crap, gah!

I have never had a dog actually eat poo, lol..I will have to look into the whole pineapple thing.:)

I feed my corgi Iams/Eukanuba only. Tried to lamb/rice mix but it does not promote good coat growth. My mom used to make dog food for all our dogs, she used fresh veggies, ground chuck, barley and lots of good stuff. She would make a huge batch and freeze in portions; thaw/heat and serve. It smelled really good and my sis even saw it served at a church pot luck one time!! I just dont have the time to cook for us let alone the dog!

There are SO many better diets out there than Iams/Science Diet and the like. They all contain corn. They also spend a ton of money on advertising. That money comes from somewhere... I fed my old rottie exclusively Iams Lamb and Rice her entire life because she couldn't cope well with me changing it. I did a lot of research before we got the mastiffs and I was apalled to realize what I'd been doing to her. Make a slow adjustment and your dog would be way happier on a more holistic formula that they'd then eat less of. The rottenweiler ate 3.5 cups of food a day at 80 pounds. Cali gets 4 cups a day of Canidae at 137. It really does make a big difference! Whole dog journal! Run your foods through that dog food scoring system. You'll be apalled!

dog food and animal booboo

the dash is on a ramen noodle diet :)

jk, of coarse. he just eats dog food. come to think of it my chickens get more variety than him. they even get watermelon. how did that happen?

. . . I add carrots, oats, fish oil, vitamins, peas, rice and some kind of meat(chicken or beef) when I have some to their food . . .

Odd thread :D

Well if you ever picked up a bag of "Wellness" Dog food you will find it labeled as holistic animal food and is also highly recommended by Veterinarians. The ingredients you mix happen to be the same ones in the "Wellness" brand of food. The only thing you have left out is cranberries which help with bowels and kidneys.

Who's nuts now? Keep feeding them your mix.

My shepherd prefers a snack of fresh poo over old poo.

Ha and it's cheaper to just give them fresh food than to give them bagged dry food of the same thing :D
I had forgotten cranberries, I'm adding a little bit now, I'll start adding more soon.. I think it will be very good for my shepherd, who has had kidney and urinary problems in the past.

The only thing that my picky shiranian won't eat in her food is the carrots, unless they're thiny shredded or steamed, she picks them our and eats everything else, THEN eats the carrots by themselves. :shakehead:

Our dogs get home cooked food made with chicken and rice. One of my mom's poodles is a diabetic, and it's easier to give them all the same stuff.

my dogs eat a raw prey model diet. we try, using various animal parts to mimick what a wolf would eat in the wild, because after all, all our companion dogs are is selectively bred gray wolves.

nothing ground or commericially prepared. no fillers, no grains, and the only veggies they get are when they beg and get to lick our dinner plates (not very often).

unfortunately i don't have a way to post pics at the moment, my digital camera takes pics on floppy disks and the new computer doesn't have a floppy drive. and of course, all the pics i already have are on the old computer's hard drive that has a nasty virus.

As soon as i get an external floppy drive i'll post pics of my dogs.. and my fish which are also raw fed.
