Nano project build, first time SW tank!

Everything said makes sense :grinyes:

This is another reason why I'm waiting so long to get fish, because I want to make sure I don't choose badly for my first tank.

I should be getting my filter today, and my sand has settled a lot so I'll update that picture (the one from last night made it look horrible).

So what would you guys suggest as a good stock for a 10g?

Todays post:
"Went to my LFS today and picked up a pound of live rock to start seeding my sand. I didn't want to buy any of their larger pieces because they would be TOO big for my tank, but didn't want to populate with all rubble pieces.


There are five pieces total, only three are pictured.

I may end up changing my filtration devices, but we will see..."



As for my filtration, I may be canceling my order for that nano skimmer. I was told the collection cup for it is very small, so I would have to customize it (not that I mind), and was told that they have a combo filter/skimmer coming in on Tuesday if I was interested. Has anyone had experience with combos like this? I don't want to cancel my order if it isn't going to be good, so please let me know what you think!
 
Sorry, another question:

I'm not sure what to do about lighting. I really don't want to spend 150+ on lights, but I want to have coral. I'm asking my dad if he has any 18" housings at his work that I can rig together with a couple of strip bulbs, or I was thinking about getting two 20" housings from the pet store and hooking them up.

Do you think these are bad ideas? And also, what types / how many bulbs should I be using? Do I need night lights?
 
Again nice start and for stocking i would suggest:

1: 1 neon blue goby, 1 yellow watchman goby

2: 2 Firefish, 1 ocellaris clownfish
 
What i listed is like the max with weekly water changes but 1 and 1 will be ideal and as for inverts you can have one shrimp and maybe so snails...

I'm working with the same kind of tank. The first fish I want to add later is the watchman goby. And the firefish is a close second. If those are the two I get for mine, am I done there? Or is there something else I could include as a third fish with those two?

From what I've seen most people have a few small inverts, which is what I'm planning as well.


I noticed my first life in the tank today, there are a few small spiny worms and some buds starting to grow on one of my rocks. I'm very excited!
