so i went out of town for four days and while i was away, my marimo balls were moved to the window sill and unfortunately, it was in direct sunlight for four days. When I came home, the water was very stinky, the marimo balls brown and the water was warm. Is there anyway I can revive them!??!
I put them in fresh water for now and am going to try to refrigerate them for a night but is there anything else I can do? I read that salt may help?

refrigerating them isnt going to do anything. sounds like theyre gone.
nooooo.. i've only had them for about four days. doh.. well 8 including the four days I was away.. should I try trimming them to see if it's green at all in the middle?

you could... but its unlikely.

if theyre dead, what's it gonna hurt to try?

also.. salt + plants = dead plants.

i saw the salt part from http://english.marimo.com.hk/method.swf
sigh.. on the webpage where i bought the plant it said it was
Difficulty Easy Light Intensity Low to High Water Parameters 68-86 °F (20- 30°C); pH 6.0-7.5; kH 3-8 so i thought they were very hardy and didn't expect them to die so easily. i thought as it said high light intensity is fine, then nothing would happen to them! argh.. not so easy to take care of after all!

I think they may have died from the extreme heat, not the extreme light. It's not your fault that they are hard to keep alive on a windowsill, they are easy to keep in your tanks.
