The neighbor has a visitor...

A Brown Widow has a smooth butt area this one looks to have fur..........

That is also an Orb shaped web..... More than likely it is a Orb weaving spider of some type since they are the most common type of spider around. This group includes the garden spiders. Widow spiders do not build orb shaped webs.

Another observation it the head area is too large for a brown widow.

Exactly...it's not a brown widow.

I say leave the spider be. It seems to be minding it's own business. If the homeowner isn't worried about it 'attacking' his 3 year-old, you probably shouldn't be losing sleep over it, either.

I agree that it isn't a harmful spider. He looks to be in maybe the crab spider family. Which means at night these babies will clean out about 100-200 insects. And mostly the insects that bite people. He would be a great outside window pet. I say leave it be and let him thin the population of mosquitos.

And the second bug agreed STINK BUG. Don't poke at him or he will stink u. LOL

Thanks guys for the help!

I haven't lost sleep over it and I wasn't concerned with it "ATTACKING" the three-year-old. However, if it were a poisonous spider (which is what I was trying to find out) it certainly could do some harm to a small child if were to bite him. I do try to look out for children whether they're mine or someone else's.

what did the spider do to you? i'd leave it alone.. looks cool.

It didn't do anything to me. Didn't say that it did.

Anyways, to those that were helpful--Thank you! I appreciate it.

You already know, just adding my .05 cents.. it cannot hurt anyone.. I have kept several of them as pets, I've forgotten their scientific name, but most just know them as the common garden spider....The times I have been bitten felt like a bad mosquito bite.. itchy as crap. I would just leave the little girl to do her job and eats mosquitos and flies happily(it is female, males are mush smaller, and have.. roundish extensions on their front legs).

Def. a orb-weaver type spider. They aren't very poisonous. Maybe about the same an a bee sting or a little less. I'm not very reactive to that type but I have been bitten before by handling that kind of spider. My hand swelled up for about an hour and went away. My bad for trying to pick him up though but at least my brother didn't smash him =)
The other is a stink bug.. totally harmless.. funny smelling but harmless
